Pope Leo XIII, who lived at the end of the nineteenth century, saw a vision regarding the church and satan. While details vary slightly from version to version, what is clear is that he had an encounter and the result of that encounter was to compose a prayer to St. Michael for aid. You can read about the vision by clicking here.
The most accepted version of the vision holds that it happened 33 years prior to the miracle of the sun at Fatima, which occurred October 13, 1917. The vision Pope Leo XIII saw occurred on October 13, 1884.
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, 0 prince of the heavenly host, by the divine power of God, cast into hell satan and all evil spirits who roam now throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
This prayer was removed in 1962 from the foot of the altar. Consider how many negative things began in the 1960s.
Prayer removed from public schools – 1963
Woodstock – 1969
Roe v. Wade – 1973
And things have gone downhill from there. There is a correlation between the removal of the prayer from the church, and the downfall of western civilization at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.
